Dancing is a really great idea
to spend your free time and I can recommend it to everyone :) No matter what kind, the most important is that it has
only advantages. It
improves the physical condition, can burn fat, strengthens and tones muscles,
relaxes and strengthens the spine. But not
only that! It
also brings psychological benefits – during the dance (as well as any other
move) our body produces huge amounts of epinephrine, norepinephrine and
endorphins, so that we have more energy and feel happier. It
also allows you to get rid of complexes ;) Dance is often used as a form of
therapy in various types of mental disorders, depressions and neurosis. Besides
... do not hide it, the visual benefits of dancing are indescribable :)
It
is difficult to talk about the origins of dancing, because there are no any traces.
However,
there are several descriptions that allow you to imagine something how it was
in the past, for example in the " Iliad " of Homer we can find a description
of the Greek chorea – dancing song, which is a combination of music, songs,
poetry and dance. In
the Old Testament, we can read about King David dancing before the Ark of the
Covenant. In
one word, dance history is long and old as the world, and its development
depends on the location, religion and culture.
There
are a lot of dance categories. Generally can be divided into five main groups :
1. Dance as a ritual,
biblical or martial.
2. Dance as a
spectacle.
3. Stage dance – classical,
contemporary, historical.
4. Entertainment
dance – ballroom dancing, folk dance.
5. Street dance –
popping, breakdancing, locking and more.
For
each of these sections we can add other categories and dance types. Below I chose
descriptions of the five – one more, the other less popular.
Bolero
: Spanish folk dance which comes from Castile and Andalusia (XVIII century).
It
can be danced solo or in pairs, accompanied by percussion and guitar .
Tap
dance : using the sound of one's tap shoes hitting the floor in special
shoes.
The
greatest popularity of tap dancing was, in the 30s of XX century thanks to Fred
Astaire.
Rueda
de Casino: Cuban salsa dancing in pairs, which stand in a circle.
Rueda
leader says commands that dictate changes in the figures and conversion of partners.
Hula:
Hawaiian traditional dance performed by women to the accompaniment of songs
called mele.
Women are dressed in
special Hawaiian dresses .
Pole
dance : you can dance it not only in strip clubs !
Sports
version omits the erotic aspect and proves that it requires a large physical
fitness and strength, including skills specific to gymnastics. By the way nice experience ;)
Let’s dance !
