Polish school system, as others, we can divide into two parts- public and private.
Children who have to go to school can go to school which they want or can. Of course the choice depends on many factors. Today I’ll investigate private schools which were created in Poland in 90’s of XX century after political transformations. From this time many private schools were created and they are led by non-public organizations or people. There are many different types of them – ordinary primary schools, artistic, language etc. below I chose some facts about private schools – however, they aren’t based on my own experience and maybe they need some verification but are based on common opinions.

First – private school is not always better. There are many parents opinions that private schools are better than ordinary ones. But is it a rule? I think not. Of course private schools usually have better teaching offer and they use the newest teaching methods but not in every place. There are some schools similar to public and only one difference is that they are paid…
Second – private schools aren’t free – you have to pay for them. The tuitions are varied – from several hundred till several thousand per month. So the decision depends on parents wallets. There is one important thing connected with paying – not written rule “I’m paying – I demand”. Many parents think that if they pay for education, children should have the best marks. Sometimes teachers do what parents want. And what if child doesn’t learn and teacher doesn’t have any reason to give good marks?
Third – there are more specialists in private schools – psychologists, pedagogues, speech therapists etc. In public school they are as well but sometimes is shorter time during the week. Then parents have to use other places and pay – for example clinics.
Fourth – there are less students in private classes. It helps to prepare better conditions for teaching and learning. The teacher can help more students but sometimes he/she doesn’t have a good contact with some of students.
Fifth – there is better offer of additional activities in private schools. It’s true, I think. Usually they are included into price and in public schools this offer is limited or even doesn’t exist.
For the end, I think common opinion but for me ridiculous. May people think that going to private schools make people snob. In my opinion a big role, and perhaps the greatest, plays not only a school, but parental education. Educational errors, which are committed regardless of social status, can cause it. Of course, the school also may have an influence on this, mainly due to friends, but this should not be the rule.
