  1. Step by step I’m coming to the end of the part about „films from …’s”. But before it’ll be it’s time for films from 70’s. It was a decade when well-paid films were produced and thanks to that a lot of people were coming to cinemas. It was not only young people but older as well. It was a good time for advertisements which helped many films to become famous. 70’s were great for Martin Scorsese, Stanley Kubrick, Roman Polański or Francis Ford Coppola. In Poland it was still time for historical films.

    Let’s skip to my subjective list of the best films from 70’s :) - as always in chronologic order.

    1.   Rejs (1970): Polish film which was a parody of comunism in Poland directed by Marek Piwowarski.
    Story: on the ship which sails on Vistula river appears stow taken by the captain as the cultural-educational instructor. Man organizes meetings, elections of cruise board and entertains tour participants.

    2.   The Godfather (1972): the most famous film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Based on novel of Mario Puzo.
    Story: Don Corleone who is becoming older wants to give his power to his son.
    The plot is based  in years 1945-1955 in New York.

    3.   Fiddler on the Roof (1971): American musical, based on the book of Szolem Alejchem.
    Story: Tewje, who is a milkman wants to his daughters will get married. Each of them has her own lover but not always are as Tewje would like to. He has to sacrifice.

    4.   The Clockwork Orange (1971): one of my favourite films. British science-fiction drama directed by Stanley Kubrick.
    Story: Alex DeLarge and his gang are scaremongers in the city. When he goes to the jail, he gets offer which can change his life.

    5.   One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975): American film, based on a book by Ken Kesey with the same title, directed by Milos Forman.
    Story: Randle is a thief, card-sharp and hooligan who pretends being mentally sick so as not to go to jail. He comes to hospital which is ruled by sister Ratched.

    6.   Carrie (1978): the adapatation of Stephen King’s novel, directed by Brian De Palma.
    Story:  Carrie is a young girl who is bullied by her firends from school. One day dicovers paranormal skills.

    7.   Grease (1978): musical directed by Randala Kleisera.
    Story: Danny Zuko is a leader of the T-Birds and he spends romantic holiday with Sandy, who lives in Australia. They swear love to each other and have to break up. They meet again in high school. However, Sandy, well-behaved young lady, does not fit to the image of Danny in the school. She decided to become one of the Pink Ladies and fight for him.

    8.   Escape from Alcatraz (1979): American film directed by Don Siegel, based on the novel of J. Campbella Bruce. Based on true story.  
    Story: a group of prisoners want to escape from Alcatraz. They are lead by Frank Morris, who escaped from many prisons.

    It’s a weekend so it can be a great time to watch films from 70’s :)
