Today it’s a time for films from 50’s. According to many critics and connoisseurs of
cinema it was the best decade for cinematography. I think it’s true. I’ve
watched many films from 50’s and always come back with pleasure. Usually I
don’t watch one film many times, but here it looks different. It’s also the
time when television became more popular. It was advantages and disadvantages.
From one side people could watch more films, from the other side – cinemas lost
many viewers. It had an influence on methods which were used to encourage
people to watch film in cinemas. In 1954 they started making films in
technology which wasn’t available in TV. It was also great time for car
cinemas. They were very popular, especially among young people. 50’s were great
for Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra and directors –
Elia Kazan, Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder and many others.
