CULTURE AND LANGUAGES: Theatre - relict or developing art

picture source: www.aktywni.barycz.plTheatre is the most important kind of culture for me. The emotions which I feel during the play are compared to these from opera. I admire theatre! It doesn’t matter if it is comedy, drama or other gender. When I’m sitting at the audience, I can totally forget about world which is around me – worries disappear, thoughts about work, troubles and all the rest which are completely unnecessary in my life. I’m focused only on actors and their play. The beginning of the theatre is dated around 500 BC in Greece. There were City Dionysia in the spring and Rural Dionysia in the autumn. The first gave the beginning for drama and second for comedy. Both festivals were organized to worship god Dionysus. The first actor was set by Tespis and later the amount of actors had increased. Now it depends only from the capacity of the building. In the past plays had place on the mountain slopes where was good visibility – these places were called amphitheatres. Now we can visit them around the world.
In ancient times each play began with chore and actor appeared on the scene. During the play, chore and actors changed. Chore’s role was to comment, describe characters and add what wasn’t said by actor. It’s worth to remember that only men could be on the scene – the played women as well. So when was the first time when woman appeared on the scene? It was common around XVII century – before it was thought to be a degradation for woman. Now it’s not a problem – even, I think that there are more actresses than actors. But of course I can make a mistake ;)Below I chose the best oddities about the theatre:1. The National Day of Theatre is on 27th March – it’s one day after my birthday, great! :)2. The beginning of Polish theatre is dated in Middle Ages.3. The longest working actor was Johannes Heesters – 90 years (!) on the scene.4. The oldest theatre in Poland is Teatr Narodowy in Warsaw – it arose in 1765.5. The biggest theatre in the world is also Teatr Narodowy in Warsaw – the audience of the biggest part is 1841 places. For the end of the post I decided to write about superstitions which are connected with the theatre (source: http://www.teatr.win.pl/przesady.htm):- don’t put script on bed, sofa or chair because the role will be broke,- actor shouldn’t come back home if he forgets his script,- if the script falls on the floor, trample it,- actors shouldn’t whistle on the scene because the play will be whistled,- don’t come on the scene with left leg,- don’t open the umbrella on the scene,- don’t eat pumpkin or sunflower seeds – it’s my favourite superstition,- don’t clap during rehearsal.Autor: Unknown Etykiety: CULTURE , CULTURE AND LANGUAGES | Email This BlogThis!
