We can find nuts in many dishes – cakes, ice creams, chocolates, but also in meat meals and salads. They are rich in protein (25%), vitamin E – antioxidant, which protects from heart diseases and atherosclerosis. They contains unsaturated fats, healthier ones. From the other side they are very caloric but reasonable eating shouldn’t cause getting fat ;)
We can choose many kinds of nuts – sold by weight, in packets, in nags or boxes. It’s very important to check country where they come from. Nuts should be dry and for example walnuts are the best in husks.
Let’s see the offer in shops:
    1.      1. Walnuts: very caloric, but they help to dispose of toxins and have a positive influence on concentration and memory, they improve nervous system working. Ingredients: protein, vitamin A, B1, B2, niacin, vitamin E, potassiumsium, iron, cobalt, phosphorus, magnesium.
    2.      2. Hazel nuts: less fat than walnuts, they improve memory and learning, they are calming. Ingredientes: potassiumsium, magnesium, iron, calcium, zink, copper, manganese.
    3.      3. Goober peas: they reduce the level of cholesterol. Ingredientes: vitamin E, protein, vitamins of group B, phosphorus, niacin.
    4.      4. Almonds: they reduce the level of cholesterol, improve memory and concentration, protect from atherosclerosis and take care of nervous system. Ingredientes: protein, vitamin E, potassium, vitamin B1 and PP.
    5.      5. Pistachios: they are rich in unsaturated fats and proteins. Ingredientes: protein, fiber, magnesium, potassium, vitamin E, vitamins of group B.
    6.      6. Cashews (my favourite J): the source of protein, they contain folic acid.
    7.      7. Other:
    a) pecan: family with walnuts, but sweeter, they contain vitamin B11,
    b) pine nuts: seeds of pines,
    c) macadamia,
    d) Brazil nuts.
Answering the question from post’s title – yes, it’s worth to eat nuts but not so many. It’s enough to eat a few daily- we will be healthier but not fatter ;)
Recently I’ve learned also about something completely unknown for me so far – washing nuts. They are common in India and Nepal, and their use is very wide – are not only used for washing clothes, but also for cleaning various surfaces, washing hair, bubble bath and many other things. They do not cause allergies, are odorless, and are efficient and less expensive than for example washing powder. Hmm interesting, maybe it's time to try them?
