CULTURE AND LANGUAGES: Total Immersion - pro or contra?
Tuesday, December 17
picture source: www.europeaninstitute.itI haven’t even heard about it – that was what I thought ;) That’s why I decided to investigate it very carefully. The Total Immersion is about being in touch with the language all the time. Talking, reading newspapers, watching TV, even thinking. It’s well known by people who are going abroad and don’t have any contact with their mother tongue. They don’t have any choice and have to use for example English in daily life – in the shop, on the street, at school and work.
This method is based on big intensity. Honestly, it needs a lot of time because lessons last from 1 to 6 weeks, from Monday till Friday, from 8am till 5pm! Woow! It’s like a job but in a different area. During each day there are 12 lessons, which topic and level is connected with the students. Who is learning such method? I think that especially people who want to learn language in a short time or businessmen. The students have contact with language all the time, even during lunch break and drinks, which are provided by school. In Poland this method is authorized by Berlitz school. They assure that results after one week are comparable with these after months. The course is quite expensive and it can be negative – even 8000 for a week! I hope that’s worth of it :) The price includes drinks and lunches which are organized in the nearest restaurants. The students can use specially prepared classrooms as well. I think that the course needs a lot of effort, sometimes students can doubt or even have crisis. However, I think that in the end there are unforgettable memories and great satisfaction from the results which are achieved. Who wouldn’t learn foreign language in a week? ;) I’m pro!Autor: Unknown Etykiety: CULTURE AND LANGUAGES , LANGUAGES | Email This BlogThis! Share to X Share to Facebook |
