CULTURE AND LANGUAGES: Museums
Friday, December 20
picture source: www.metmuseum.orgToday is the beginning of very special weekend :) Maybe it’s worth to use it for family visit in the museum? Of course if the cultural offer of our city allows it. I didn’t know but museum has its own definition in Polish law. I wouldn’t translate it but shortly we can say that museum role is to collect, protect and arrange collections. Then making the opportunity to watch them and creating sensitivity for culture.
I think that we have quite rich offer of museums in Poland. Generally, we can divide them into:- national museums, for example in Warsaw, Cracov, Poznan or Gdansk,- archeological,- etnographical,- natural,- historic,- technical,- art,- sacral,- biographical,- martial,- castles, palaces, domes,- and many more. It’s worth to recall museums which are not very common – the list of them I found here: http://www.fly4free.pl/najdziwniejsze-muzea-na-swiecie-byliscie-w-nich/?pid=257#galeria1. Museum of Asphalt in Sacramento,2. Museum of Cheap Wines in Szklarska Poręba,3. Museum of Purgatory Souls in Rome,4. Museum of Funeral Cars in Barcelona,5. Museum of Dog Collars in Maidstone,6. Museum of Bacon in Lviv,7. Museum of Salt-shakers and Pepper-shaker in Gatlinburg,8. Museum of Socks in Beijing,9. Museum of Chinese Soups in Osaka,10. Museum of Toilets in New Delhi. At least once a year each museum has Open Days when we can visit them without paying for the entrance. On the 18th May there is International Day of Museums – it was first made in Moscow 28th May 1977. From 2003 we have one more event – Night of Museums. Than we ca also visit museums without payment – usually it’s on Friday night, from 6pm till 3am.Maybe I’m not a big fan of watching paintings but I always choose a new place to watch something different – souvenirs, books, mock-ups and something like that. I’ve visitied almost all museums in Cracov – excluding Museum of Japanese Art and Technique. Let’s do it my New Year’s resolution :)Autor: Unknown Etykiety: CULTURE , CULTURE AND LANGUAGES | Email This BlogThis! Share to X Share to Facebook |
